Tech Agar

TECH Agar, also referred to as Pseudomonas P Agar, is used for the differentiation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from other Pseudomonas species based on pyocyanin production. The salts Magnesium Chloride and Potassium Sulfate enhance the production of the iron chelator pyocianin (blue) by this species. Pancreatic Digest of Gelatin also enhances pigment production and supplies nutrients for bacterial growth, and Agar serves as gelifying agent.
