Protein Family: Enzymes, Peptidases
Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Alternate Names: Metalloproteinase inhibitor 3; Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 3; TIMP-3; Protein MIG-5; TIMP3
Accession No.: P35625
Description:
Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 3 (TIMP-3) binds to metalloproteinases such as collagenases and irreversibly inactivates the proteases. TIMP-2 is involved in the extracellular matrix remodeling by binding to MMP-1, -2, -3, -7, -9, -13, -14 and -15. Defects in TIMP-3 are the cause of Sorsby fundus dystrophy (SFD), a macular disorder leading to vision loss.
Format:
Each vial contains 0.1 ml peptide in deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml. Use at 5.6 ug/ml for a 100X excess over antibody for maximum blocking effect.
MW: 1373.5 g/mol
Sequence:
The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 250885 is selected from a sequence within the C-term region of human TIMP-3. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
Composition:
C62H84N16O18S1
Purity:
> 80% by HPLC
Solubility:
Distilled water for a solution up to 2 mg/ml, otherwise we recommend using acetonitrile.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. The product is hygroscopic and must be protected from light. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C.
