Protein Family: Cellular Antigens, Cytokines

Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Cell Growth and Death, Immune System, Infectious Diseases

Alternate Names: Apo2L, TL2, Apo2 Ligand, TNFSF10, CD253Description:
TNF-Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand (TRAIL) is produced by a wide variety of cell types and is shown to be a cytotoxic protein that induces apoptosis in tumor cells through activation of the death receptors, DR4 and DR5. Human TRAIL is active on mouse cells. Human TRAIL is produced in E.coli. Recombinant human TRAIL is a non-glycosylated protein, containing the 168 amino acid extracellular portion of TRAIL that is homologous to TNF. It has a molecular weight of 19.5 kDa.

Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.05ng/ug or <0.5EU/ug.

Applications: E, WB

Application Notes:
The activity is determined by the ability to induce apoptotic cell death in TRAIL-sensitive RPMI-8226 cells and is typically 10-15 ng/mL. Specific activity: 1 x 10e5 units/mg

Accession No.: P50591

MW: 19525 Da

Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.

Format:
Each vial contains 50 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.5 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.

Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
