Protein Family: Cytoskeleton Proteins
Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Description:
Tropomyosin is an actin-binding protein that regulates actin mechanics. Tropomyosin is important, among other things, for muscle contraction. Tropomyosin, along with the troponin complex, associates with actin in muscle fibers and regulates muscle contraction by regulating the binding of myosin. Defects in tropomyosin are the cause of cardiomyopathy familial hypertrophic type 3 (CMH3). Familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a hereditary heart disorder characterized by ventricular hypertrophy, which is usually asymmetric and often involves the interventricular septum.
Alternate Names: Tropomyosin alpha-1 chain, Alpha-tropomyosin, Tropomyosin-1, TPM1, C15orf13, TMSA, Tropomyosin beta chain, Beta-tropomyosin, Tropomyosin-2, TPM2, TMSB, Tropomyosin alpha-3 chain, Gamma-tropomyosin, Tropomyosin-3, Tropomyosin-5, hTM5, TPM3
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: P04268
Antigen: Chicken gizzard tropomyosin.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4, 2% BSA with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-G affinity chromatography.
