Angiotensin II is the physiologically active form and regulates both the volume and the mineral balance in the body through vasoconstriction, aldosterone release, sodium uptake and thirst stimulation. Angiotensin II is a natural ligand for angiotensin II type 1 receptors. [Val5] Angiotensin II peptide is an angiotensin II analog that is an agonist for AT1 angiotensin receptors.
