Protein Family: Ubiquitins

Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Folding, Sorting and Degradation

Alternate Names: Von Hippel-Lindau disease tumor suppressor; pVHL; G7 protein; VHL

Accession No.: P40337, AAB64200

Description:
VHL is involved in the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of hydroxylated hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) under normoxic conditions. Defects in VHL are the cause of different types of cancers (pheochromocytoma, von Hippel-Lindau disease) and erythrocytosis.

Format:
Each vial contains 0.1 mg of lyophilized peptide. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml. Use at 5.6 ug/ml for a 100X excess over antibody for maximum blocking effect.

MW: 2061.2 g/mol

Sequence:
The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 200142 is selected from a sequence within the C-term region of human VHL. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.

Composition:
C86H133N25O32S1

Purity:
> 80% by HPLC

Solubility:
Distilled water for a solution up to 2 mg/ml, otherwise we recommend using acetonitrile.

Storage:
Store at -20°C. The product is hygroscopic and must be protected from light. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C.
