Protein Family: Hormones, Receptors and Channels
Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interactions
Alternate Names: Xenin; Xenopsin-related peptide; Coatomer subunit alpha; Alpha-coat protein; Alpha-COP; HEPCOP; HEP-COP; COPA; Proxenin
Accession No.: P53621
Description:
Xenin is a peptide derived from the alpha-coat protein (alpha-COP) after processing. It binds to the neurotensin receptor in the gut and also stimulates exocrine pancreatic secretion. Xenin inhibits pentagastrin-stimulated secretion of acid, to induce exocrine pancreatic secretion and to affect small and large intestinal motility. Xenin is found in gastric, duodenal and jejunal mucosa, and is released into the blood circulation after a meal.
Format:
Each vial contains 1 mg of lyophilized solid packaged under an inert gas and supplied as a trifluoroacetate salt.
MW: 2971.63 g/mol
Sequence:
Human: H-Met-Leu-Thr-Lys-Phe-Glu-Thr-Lys-Ser-Ala-Arg-Val-Lys-Gly-Leu-Ser-Phe-His-Pro-Lys-Arg-Pro-Trp-Ile-Leu-OH or H-MLTKFETKSARVKGLSFHPKRPWIL-OH
