Yeast Nitrogen Base is based on the formula designed by Wickerham and recommended for the classification of yeast strains based on their ability to assimilate amino acids and carbon compounds. The broth medium contains all the essential vitamins and inorganic salts necessary for the cultivation of yeasts, except for histidine, methionine, tryptophane and a carbohydrate source.
