Protein Family: Hormones, Receptors and Channels
Pathway and Disease: Endocrine System, Nervous and Sensory Systems
Alternate Names: Procalcitonin, PCT, Calcitonin, katacalcin, CCP, PDN-21, CALCA, CALC1, Calcitonin carboxyl-terminal peptideDescription:
Procalcitonin is a precursor of the peptide hormone called calcitonin. Procalcitonin is mainly produced by the C cells of the thyroid and certain endocrine cells of the lung. Under normal expression conditions, procalcitonin is immediately cleaved into three specific fragments, an N terminal residue, calcitonin and katacalcin. Levels of unprocessed procalcitonin have been shown to rise significantly after bacterial infection, trauma or shock. Human Procalcitonin is produced in E.coli. Recombinant human Procalcitonin is a non-glycosylated protein, containing 116 amino acids, with a molecular weight of 12.8 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.05ng/ug or <0.5EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
There is no biological assay data available at this time.
Accession No.: P01258
MW: 12796 Da
Sequence:
APFRSALESS PADPATLSED EARLLLAALV QDYVQMKASE LEQEQEREGS SLDSPRSKRC GNLSTCMLGT YTQDFNKFHT FPQTAIGVGA PGKKRDMSSD LERDHRPHVS MPQNAN
Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 10 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
